Time to talk about what makes a REAL Super-Hero
I just finished reading one of my newest ‘most favorite books ever!’ It is, ‘The Gifts of Imperfection’ by Brene Brown. I have to admit that usually when someone says that ‘a book has changed their life,’ I kinda do the ‘smile and nod’ thing and not give it much credence…for me it is ACTIONS and BEHAVIORS that REALLY do the changing. What I love about Brene Brown is that she takes a ‘real-person’ approach to all she has to say and gives you sound principles backed up by her extensive research AND practical personal experiences and suggestions to TRULY change your life for the better. She also has a great writing style that makes you feel like you are talking to your best friend in one of those ‘late-night-share-your-soul’ type conversations. I HIGHLY recommend jumping over to Amazon right now and ordering yourself a copy–you won’t regret it.
Over the next little while, I want to share with you some of my favorite tidbits…So, what ARE the Gifts of Imperfection? In a nutshell, it is our ‘imperfections’ and ‘vulnerabilities’ that allow us to develop COURAGE, COMPASSION, and CONNECTION. Cultivating these three things in your life then lead to ‘Wholehearted Living.’ I LOVE that concept of living with your WHOLE HEART. Here is how Brene describes Wholehearted living:
“Wholehearted living is about engaging in our lives from a place of worthiness. It means cultivating the
courage, compassion, and connection to wake up in the morning and think,
No matter what gets done and how much is left undone, I am enough.
Its going to bed at night and thinking,
Yes, I am imperfect and vulnerable and sometimes afraid, but that doesn’t change the truth
that I am also brave and worthy of love and belonging.”
It is so easy to get caught up in unproductive and self-depreciating thought patterns and behaviors. But if we approach life from ‘a place of worthiness’ and know that we are all ‘brave and worthy of love and belonging,’ NO MATTER WHAT, it can change EVERYTHING….
I invite you to follow along through my posts, and look forward to sharing with you and having you come with me on this Journey of striving for Wholehearted Living…
