Texas Fried Green Tomatoes with Basil Aioli!1/2 cup flour
1/2 cup yellow cornmeal
2 eggs (beaten with salt&pepper)
1/4 teaspoon garlic powder
oil (in Iron skillet and hot)
3 green tomatoes, sliced
salt & pepper
Directions:
Put skillet on and get oil hot as your preparing tomatoes.
 Cut tomatoes as thick or thin as you like them.
Mix flour, cornmeal, garlic powder, salt and pepper.
 Roll tomatoes in egg and then in dredging mixture (Cornmeal& Flour mixture).
Do this twice (makes for a crispier coating) and drop into hot oil.
 When golden brown on both sides take out of oil and keep warm till serving time.  Serve with the Basil Aioli.
Basil Aoili for dipping
3/4 cup mayonnaise
3 drops basil essential oil
1 TBSP fresh lemon juice
1 1/2 tsp minced garlic
3 drops lemon essential oil
preparation
2 TBSP finely chopped fresh basil leaves for garnishMix all ingredients (except basil leaves) in medium bowl. Season to taste with salt and pepper. Sprinkle chopped basil leaves on top. Cover and refrigerate at least 1 hour to allow flavors to develop. (Can be prepared 2 days ahead. Keep refrigerated.) Makes 1 cup.**This Aioli is FANTASTIC on just about anything!  I love it on fresh tomatoes, sandwiches, any veggies–and even as a salad dressing!
