Play Dough…always a winner!

“Mom, I’m BORED!”  In our house, those words are heard as: “Mom, I need an extra cleaning job!”  My kids have learned how to say that they are bored in different ways…I have to hand it to them for their creativity sometimes.  Haha  But, inevitably, no matter how they say it, there are times when my kids need Mom to ‘come to their rescue’ with a ‘Super’ activity for them!  One of my tried and true standbys is Play Dough!  (Even the older kids end up joining in on the fun!)  I have tried MANY Play Dough Recipes!  Here is my most favorite:

1 cup Flour

1/2 salt

1 TB salt

1 Tsp. Cream of Tarter

1TB Oil

1 cup water

food coloring (optional)

few drops essential oil (optional)

Mix dry ingredients in a medium saucepan. I think it is easiest to combine by making a ‘well’ into the center of the dry ingredients, and then adding into the well, the oil, water, and food coloring.  Turn the heat on medium and mix until it comes together and cooks to the point when it is the consistency of Play Dough.  🙂  You can add a few drops of essential oils too if you want for a nice added touch.  (Just know that if it smells too good, they might try to eat it…which wouldn’t hurt them, but might not be the best thing for them to eat.  🙂
