Your Very Own All Natural Window Cleaner Recipe!
I ran across this recipe out of sheer necessity: company coming over, house needed to be more presentable, we had run out of window cleaner, and I could not afford the time to run into town to go buy some. So, I Googled it. There were a lot of recipes out there, but this one proved to be the very best. (Ya, I tried another one first and wasn’t thrilled with it…this was certainly better!) If you don’t have cornstarch on hand, you can use it without, but the cornstarch does make a difference. It has been about 6months since I was ‘forced’ to make this, and have decided to not go back to the store-bought stuff.–This works great, is a TON cheaper (costs about 30 cents for me to make!!!!) is certainly all natural and nontoxic, and I get that warm fuzzy feeling inside that I did one more little thing in the ‘better interest’ for my family.
The Best Homemade Glass Cleaner Recipe
- 2 c. very hot water
- 1 Tbsp cornstarch
- 1/4 c. rubbing alcohol (try to get at least 70% isopropyl, if not more)
- 1/4 c. white vinegar
If you want to, you can boil your water and let it cool just a bit…if you are like me, you will just let the tap water run till its super hot and then call it good…works just great! Add cornstarch to your spray bottle, and then the hot water. Shake well to dissolve. Add the rubbing alcohol and vinegar, and shake again. Every time you use this, you’ll want to shake it up to avoid clogging the spray nozzle with undissolved cornstarch. Spray, Wipe, Be Happy!
