Basil essential oil has a warm, spicy, yet herbal aroma known to enhance memory function and reduce stress and tension. Basil provides restorative benefits to both the mind and body due to its high linalool content, making it an ideal application for sore muscles and joints and to reduce tension when applied to the temples and back of neck.
My first experience with Basil Essential oil, was actually my first experience of all with any essential oils!–My son was bitten by a brown recluse spider, and I was so worried! Because we didn’t actually see the spider that bit him, the doctor acknowledged that it looked like it a brown recluse bite, but we needed to wait and see it progress more and then I was to take him to the ER. He was just a little 3 year old, and I was not about to just wait and watch the toxins eat away at his skin while the red streaks started traveling up his arm–NO THANK YOU! So I researched online what I could so to help him. Basil Essential Oil was recommended on several sites to soothe bug bites. Luckily I had a friend who knew a lot about essential oils and she brought over some Basil EO and also some Lavender. I rubbed it on his arm periodically throughout the next several hours, and by the next morning, it was a ‘miracle!’ His festering open wound bite had closed up, the enormous swelling had gone almost completely and he was back to his normal energetic, playful self! (And Mommy was shocked, amazed, and curious to learn more…lol!) Now if anyone gets any kind of bugbite or bee sting, Basil is the first thing we reach for!
